For this 3D Modeling assignment, we designed an original figure using an open source web-based software.

This project was one of the most important project that I created for this class because it was the perfect opportunity to share with others the meaning and importance of my name.  It is unique because of its meaning and the heroic acts of its keeper.

My name is Cuauhtémoc

It is a combination of two words Cuauh and temoc

Cuauhtli is Nahuatl, meaning eagle.

temoc - meaning to descended.

The story behind my name is the following;  Cuauhtémoc was the last Aztec emperor. He lived from 1495? - 1525.  In 1520 he inherited the throne from his uncle Moctezuma. Cuauhtémoc defended Tenochtitlan from Hernan Cortes and his indigenous allies; However, approximately 90 days later, in August 1521 the city fell to Cortez, marking the end of the Aztec civilization. Cortez decided to keep Cuauhtémoc captive and tortured him to try get Cuauhtémoc to reveal the location of the Aztec empire’s gold, but was unsuccessful.  Cortez allowed Cuauhtémoc to live; four years later, in 1525 Cortez hung Cuauhtémoc because Cortez feared a revolt.

The story behind my name is important because it narrates historical events in Meso American history, speaks of the resilience and survivance of indigenous cultures and communities.
